Your Story Matters
You have a voice and a story to share that can impact others in a positive way.
This is the final post of a series, sharing the self-authored book, “The Hard Way: Honest Conversations about mental health in our homes, churches and communities,” which is introduced in this free post as well as this one. The funds given by paid subscribers for this post will be donated to the Open Path Collective.
One of the major goals I had when I began writing this book (now a Substack series) was to share my own story to give courage for others to share their own. It’s not easy to be vulnerable in this way, but the power of story is palpable.
Not only that, but your story matters.
You have a voice and a story to share that can impact others in a positive way.
The more stories that are shared…
the more conversations that occur…
the more the stigma is lessened…
…and the more people receive the help they need.
There is always going to be fear and risk when revealing an intimate part of your life. Anonymous stories are valid, but when you get to know the person behind the story, the purpose is strengthened. When we learn from one another and can relate, there is courage to speak up.
Why are you reading this series?
If you have made it this far, what’s next?
How has this story impacted you?
What is your story?
How will you share it?
The Hard Way is a journey that everyone takes in their own life and circumstances. It may be in the realm of mental health or another difficult experience.
What honest conversations are waiting for you?
My faith has been deepened in a way that I never anticipated through this journey. Jesus is more real to me than he ever was before, because God has revealed a realm of emotions that He felt before I felt them. In the midst of an isolating battle, He’s been by my side the whole time, completely understanding every worry, fear and anxious thought. The Hard Way doesn’t end until we reach our heavenly home, but the promise of Jesus means we are never alone.
